Why I picked it up: This was one of the first 5 art books I bought, and I mostly picked it because it was cheaper and I needed a 5th for the publisher's discount deal.

Overall opinion: It’s a good book, the style is nice, but it didn’t really speak to me. The simple, flat coloured style isn’t my thing.
The way Pernille talks about drawings and illustrations rubs me the wrong way a little bit. She calls them ‘designs’. It feels more like she sees it as a very corporate thing
and not something fun and to express yourself. She says otherwise a few times, but that’s still the vibe I get. She says her ‘designs’ of female characters not just pretty ladies,
that they have a story and confidence and are powerful women. But other than a bit of a sassy expression or pose, that’s still all I see. Just pretty ladies. Maybe I’m in the minority in that.
The way I create is incredibly different from her, so I guess it makes sense that her inspirations and techniques don’t really speak to me.
